Testing ... Testing ... Testing ...
Is That All Schools Are About Now?

Although it may not seem so these days, there is more to school than testing. However, when teachers are compelled to "teach for the test" because their very jobs depend on a certain percentage of students passing state-mandated exams, the needs of the students - which should be paramount - take a back seat. There are more meaningful facts to be grasped, more essential information to be communicated, more teacher/student interaction to be experienced. Unfortunately, there is no time left in the classroom. ACME Tutoring will fill in those gaps.

Imparting Confidence
As Well As
Knowledge

Confidence is the key to realizing goals. When a student is falling behind he begins to lose faith in himself. This can lead to an avalanche of doubt, fear, hesitation, and ultimately, failure. Self-assurance is as necessary to boosting grades as is comprehension of subject matter. Achieving goals often depends more on the former than the latter. At ACME Tutoring we believe in the importance of both and teach that success builds upon success - so long as you have the tenacity to hang on through life's inevitable defeats and disasters.

Different Students
Require Different
Approaches to Learning

No two students are alike. Therefore, each student requires his or her own educational approach. At ACME Tutoring, as we assess the academic needs of each student who comes to us for assistance, we take into account each student's unique personality. Accordingly, tutoring sessions are geared towards the particular learning style of each student. Some students are quick to grasp concepts while others need more time to catch on. That doesn't mean one student is "smarter" than the other, it means everyone is different and requires a different method of teaching.

1-on-1 Tutoring
Is a
2-Way Street

A tutor is only as successful as his students are engaged. The tutor is spending his time conveying information, explaining, re-explaining, showing his student a new way or better way of doing things. Unless the student is committed to actually implementing the advice and instructions provided, success (i.e., better grades and a  deeper understanding of the subject at hand) is unlikely. Follow the plan of action you are given at each session and you will improve.

"I was desperately needing help with my college accounting, probability & statistics classes. Robert was extremely insightful & took the time to make sure I understood the subject being studied by explaining in non-textbook, easy to understand terms. He allowed me to work through the problems myself & as a result, I better comprehended the material. He was amazing as he did all this from 1200 miles away."

Greg M.

Kansas City, MO

"Mr. Meyer tutored our children (ages 12,14 & 17) in US History for the past year. He has a great enthusiasm for history & broad knowledge of a range of subjects which have instilled in them a greater understanding of history in general, a deeper appreciation for history's impact on our moral values, as well as a renewed patriotism which has grown so cold & indifferent in the modern world in which we live."

Leah & Eric T.

Denver, CO

"My son needed help quickly with his college accounting course. Bob made clear what my son's professor could not. He finally grasped the material and passed his test with flying colors."

Melanie W.

North Merrick, NY

"Mr. M helped me with Trig/Algebra2 in high school. He is very knowledgable, pin-pointing misconceptions I had, explaining why they were wrong & showing me how to tackle hard problems in an easy & more approachable way. He is very personable and I strongly recommend him as a tutor!"
